Gumala Mirnuwarni Education Project

The Polly Farmer Foundation’s first education project, Gumala Mirnuwarni (Coming Together to Learn), was established in Karratha/Roebourne in 1997. The project is a partnership between The Graham (Polly) Farmer Foundation, the Western Australian Department of Education, the Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Rio Tinto Iron Ore, Rio Tinto (WA) Future Fund, North West Shelf Venture Partners, and local community members.

The Partnership operates at Karratha SHS with a vision for all Aboriginal Australians to have an enriching and successful education and a wide range of career and life choices.

The program operates after school hours and includes personal tutoring and study support with all students having an Individual Learning Plan (ILP). Enrichment and extension activities are embedded within the program.
